This transcription of Schumann's Adagio & Allegro (1849) is a
favorite of Duo Alea, and is always well received by audiences when
included in a recital program. Schumann (1810-1856) composed the work for
either horn or cello with piano accompaniment, and the transcription for
bass clarinet is remarkably effective.
The beautiful and simple Adagio and dramatic Allegro both feature a
wonderfully rich piano accompaniment typical of Schumann, providing
wonderful support for the solo line. This transcription maintains the key
and range of the original, and does NOT require an extended range
instrument.
